Privacy policy

You can read every lyrics page without an account. Account features are optional. We also use an anonymous first-party cookie to avoid repeatedly counting the same reader as a new view.

What we store

• Account details: your name, email address and profile picture. If you sign up with email, we store a salted hash of your password, never the password itself. If you sign in with Google or GitHub, we receive your name, email and picture from them.
• Your activity: songs you save or like, and comments you post. Comments are public and shown with your name and picture; likes, saves and points are shown on the leaderboard.
• Sign-in cookie: a cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. We store only a hashed copy of it.
• View counts: after a lyrics page has been visible for two seconds, we count a read. A random first-party reader cookie lasts up to 30 days. A hashed copy is used to count at most one read per song per browser in 30 minutes; these temporary records are removed after 24 hours of inactivity. Daily aggregate counts are kept for 90 days to show recent trends. We do not store your IP address or connect these reading counts to an account.

We do not sell your data. Advertising is controlled separately from account features and anonymous view counts.

Advertising

When advertising is enabled, Google AdSense may display ads and use cookies or other identifiers to deliver, measure and personalize them. Google and its partners may receive information such as your IP address, device and browsing activity. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

For visitors in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and locations we cannot determine, we wait for the consent platform’s signal before requesting ads. Refusing consent keeps our ad placements hidden. We also skip ad requests when your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. When advertising is disabled, our placements do not load Google advertising or consent scripts.

Services involved

• Cloudflare hosts the site and its database.
• Google Fonts serves the site's fonts.
• Google and GitHub handle sign-in if you choose those options.
• Song artwork is loaded from the image hosts listed in our song data, and default profile pictures come from ui-avatars.com.

These services may receive your IP address when your browser loads content from them.

Your choices

You can delete your comments and remove likes and saves at any time from the site. Signing out ends your session immediately.
